🏆 High Tunstall U14 County Champions 🏆 High Tunstall 4-3 Our Lady St Bedes After reaching their 3rd final in as many years, the Elwick Roaders would have to overcome a talented OLSB to finally etch their name on the county trophy. After dominating the early exchanges, our opponents delivered a brace of sucker punches to race into a two goal lead. After failing to take several half and good chances, the boys had a two goal deficit to overcome at the interval. The only quality that exceeds this team’s footballing ability is their character which is there in boat loads. Our opponents put straight onto the back foot after Ryder finished well to half the deficit. The team were then thankful for a moment of sheer class from Captain Marvel Woolston who curled in a sumptuous 25 yard free-kick to level up proceedings. Momentum with us, there looked to be only one winner and neat work between Song and Ryder led to the latter giving the boys the lead for the first time. The expected response came from OLSB and the outstanding back four of Pugh, Trimble, Mohamed and Lyth had to be at their very best to preserve our advantage and the side were indebted to an outstanding Pattison save as the game entered its latter stages. A scintillating move saw the team’s advantage doubled as Dixon and Woolston combined beautifully before the skipper coolly finished. Well that, should have been that but a late OLSB goal, 462 minutes added on and several cardiac arrest scares for the manager came but fortunately for the travelling masses, the final whistle finally sounded and Trophy would have High Tunstall engraved on it for eternity. Could not be prouder of this epitome of TEAM. Have a great Easter break. Mr Holden |
